Pride Category: Pride Events
The Pride in Newry Parade and free outdoor festival & concert showcases the diversity of communities and cultures in Newry, Mourne, Down and surrounding areas. This enables us to increase the visibility of and portray LGBTQI* people in a positive way in all aspects of the wider local community and civic life and provide a truly inclusive family festival with something for everyone.
The Festival brings a wash of excitement and colour to the area and is now listed within the top three Northern Ireland Tourist Board Annual Event listings. Pride in Newry will again attract thousands of people into our city. In recent years, the Festival has enjoyed major local and regional media interest including BBC, UTV, Q Radio, Irish News, Belfast Telegraph, Gay Times, Attitude, GCN and others covering the parade and associated events.
The Festival is a major yearly undertaking for the entirely voluntary, dedicated team involved who are enormously grateful for all of the continued local support and generosity we have enjoyed over the years. The overwhelming and continued success of the Pride in Newry event couldn’t have or continue to happen without the support of local businesses and people. We are sincerely grateful to all those for being associated with; and contributing to, that success since conception in 2012. This support was recognised for the first time in 2017 at the ‘sold out’ Pride in Newry Awards gala event which saw over 60 nominees in 12 categories voted for by the public.
